I am a writer, data scientist, and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles.
I just returned from six months in Australia, where I worked to boost startup and small business activity thanks to a grant from the Queensland government. I met cattle ranchers in the Outback, conservationists at the Great Barrier Reef, and technologists and entrepreneurs in Brisbane and beyond.
Before that, I was the Head of Data at Pebble, a smartwatch company. My work at Pebble was profiled in Fast Company, Forbes, Popular Science, and more. I still do consulting on data science, growth, and crowdfunding campaigns. Maybe you’ve seen this campaign that I worked on, or this one, for which I wrote the video script and lots of page copy. I write about data science careers at Data Science Career Map.
I left a Physics PhD program at Cornell to take a job in Silicon Valley. I’m getting an MFA in Fiction Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. I have bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Liberal Arts. You can find more boring details of my resume on LinkedIn.
I live with my fiancé on the west side of Los Angeles, where my entire family (sister, brother, mom, dad, stepmom, sister-in-law, stepsister, stepbrother-in-law, and, as of this writing, two cats and four dogs) has serendipitously migrated over the last few years. Our family brunches are wild.
